Emmène-moi... en Inde

J'aime m'installer à la lisière de la forêt et regarder les trains passer. Je vois des gens qui regardent par la fenêtre. 
Ils ont de la chance, je me dis, ils peuvent rester assis à regarder le monde défiler. Quand ça me prend, je marche jusqu'à la gare, j'attends qu'un train s'arrête. Puis je m'approche et lui murmure : « Emmène-moi à la ville ».

Voici l'histoire de l'artiste indienne Teju Behan. Si c'est au crayon et à l'encre qu'elle a réalisé les images d'Emmène-moi à la ville, c'est oralement qu'elle a raconté l'histoire de sa vie. L'écrivain tamoul,  Salai Selvam,
l'a restituée par écrit.

Chaque page de cet ouvrage a été imprimée en sérigraphie sur un papier spécial fait main, dans le sud de l'Inde, près de Chennai. Les droits ont été achetés pour la France par Actes-Sud à Tara Books, éditeur indien indépendant depuis 1994.
